Piedmonte the Magnificent

Piemonte is a land of magnificent scenery, superb food and some of the best wines in Italy... Barolo and Barbaresco. The country is still little known by Americans and explored less, so the most wonderful places in Piedmont are not in guide books!

Corinne and Ornella are experts in the area. Covering the culture and the food and wine of the area. Rivaled by few other regions in food and landscape, Piemonte is a gem. We have put together a menu of things to do and you can build your own wonderful 1/2 day and full day tour.

Imagine a wine-intensive tour in the Langhe for devoted wine enthusiasts, visit the Banca del Vino in Pollenzo, eat lunch with an artisian cheese and salumi maker, or go searching for truffles with Carlo and his faithful dog.

The Piemonte wine route is truly great. The area is known as the Langhe. (pronunced Lan-Gay), and the area is saturated in cheese, truffles, hazelnuts, mushrooms, chocolate, oak, grappa, and wines.

While Piedmonte is great all-year, Autumn highlights it's exceptional food finds. Here, at the Enthusiastic Traveler, we also highlight special names in the wine world of Small Vineyards. Tre Donne, Euginio Bocchino, and Federico Stella. The wine producers make truly outstanding wines and very little production.

My guests say:

"Doumina gives you an up-close insiders view of the treasures surrounding the enchanted hill town of Cortona. You like olive oil? Meet a farmer who picks his olives, and the man who presses them. Art your thing? Listen to the passionate sermons of her guide, and real-life descendant of Cortona's own Luca Signorelli. Want to eat the way the heartiest Tuscans do? For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will. Guaranteed."
