Highlighting the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel followed by Renaissance Rome in the Afternoon
In the morning we will see the highlights of the Vatican Museums, the richest and most visited museum in the world. The museums include the famous Raphael Rooms and the Sistine chapel, built by pope Sisto IV in 1475, with masterpieces from Botticelli, Perugino, Signorelli and the breathtaking Genesis and last Judgement by Michelangelo. Finally we will visit Christendom's largest church, St. Peter's basilica, built over the tomb of the apostol Peter. In the basilica we will see one of the best pieces of sculpture in the world: the "Pieta´" by Michelangelo. We will end the tour in the magnificent St. Peter's square, which holds more than 300,000 people, feeling embraced by Bernini's colonnade, admiring Michelangelo's Cupola and the ancient Egyptians obelisk, which once stood in the circus of the emperor Nero, where the apostol Peter was crucified.
After lunch we will go for a walking tour through the heart of Rome and will include: the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, Navona's square, Campo dei Fiori famous for its food and vegetable market and where lived Vannozza Caetani, the famous mistress of pope's Alexander the VI Borgia and mother of Lucrezia Borgia
