Starting at Piazza Signoria, the heart of the city's historical and political square, it is surrounded by breathtaking sculpture to a visit inside the Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall of Florence. This tour is designed for the most part as an outdoor walking tour, and the next stop is the Ponte Vecchio. The old covered bridge once butchers row, where you would buy your meat, now a fabulous sparkling bridge of jewelry. From here we go to Via Cimatori and stop in the alley for a panini and lunch with the locals. No where to sit, but how fun to stand with the pigeons and savor a fresh panini and a glass of wine. Just a few meters away we can stop inside the Duomo. Thi cathedral church was designed by Brunelleschi and has an
elaborate 19th century Gothic revival. The baptistery nearby is renowned for its three sets of artistically important bronze doors with relief sculptures. A walk through San Lorenzo market, overflowing with scarves and leather takes us to San Marco Church, and ending with an appointment at the Accademia at 4 pm to view the beautiful "David."
Entrance fee to the Accademia is 12E.
