Florence Culinary Tour

florence.jpg ThumbnailMeet Rima at Florence's Sant' Ambrogio Market at 9 am and dive into the colorful chaos of this genuine market, made for housewives who depart from here with baskets full of artichokes and cabbage that they will drag for kilometers home, on their bikes! Not embellished for tourists it doesn't take long to get accustomed to the fast pace of the sellers and their “genuine” manners. But you will have the inside track today with your pizza instructor, Rima.  You will have a true lesson in pizza making and about the products so fabulous in an Italian food market like this.  After going from Vendor to Vendor with Rima, choosing, tasting and hand-picking your fresh products for your pizza today, before heading to her apartment with ingredients in tow.

First you will learn the art of pizza dough, and after you will find in Rimas bed covers all of the dough that she has made earlier that morning and that is happily rising under the comforter.  Now you can get right to work! Start with one pizza, after another, experimenting with fantastic toppings, fresh from the market and weird combinations that will leave you speechless.

florence3.jpg ThumbnailAfter your extensive lesson, you can take a ride, or a walk back to the city is just what you need after making 10 pizzas!  But don't worry, they are really thin!

florence6.jpg Thumbnail"at Sant' Ambrogio, Rima began handing out samples of cheese and prosciutto and telling us all about the market. This was definitely her market. We could not help but walk around in amazement, gazing at the wares........They seated us around the marble-topped kitchen table/work island and began organizing ingredients for the cooking lesson. Francesco poured prosecco and Rima proceeded to show us how to make pizza dough...It was a perfect day and an experience that very few others get to have, and as you can see we loved every second of their company. Grazie Mille Francesco e Rima! Te amo!! ..."
