Super Tuscan Hike

My favorite hike, starting in the tiny hilltown of Montegrossi, these hills, sometimes wild, often softly rolling, are some of the most beautiful terrain I have found. We start in the estate of Podere Ciona, the birthplace of Small Vineyards, where Franca Gatteschi gives us a tour and a tasting of this families fabulous wines.
The views from many knolls are spectacular and this is a hike for the real nature lover. We make our way through white roads and vineyards where eventually, we find ourselves at Castello di Meleto. The old castle and the new tasting room gives you an idea of the dicotomey of how Italy is able to mix their progressive and modern ideas with the old. We have a tour of the castle and sit down to a 6 wine tasting and lunch of typical products.
